When Reliable Insurance outgrew their space, they needed a new office that combined function with a fresh, welcoming feel. We reimagined their new building into a workspace that encourages both focus and connection, adding private offices, sound-insulated meeting rooms, and comfortable shared areas. The result is a space that reflects their friendly, hometown spirit—while giving their team room to grow.
We gutted Reliable’s newly acquired building to start fresh, rebuilding with dedicated offices, sound-insulated meeting rooms, and inviting spaces that support their close-knit team culture. A modern mix of materials was used throughout, with special attention given to the front reception area for a bold first impression. The expanded breakroom now comfortably hosts the entire team for potlucks and hockey tournament watch parties—making Reliable not just the friendliest, but possibly the coolest insurance company in town.
This 3,540-square-foot home on London Road in Duluth, MN, underwent targeted outdoor renovations to restore weather-worn areas and enhance both function and style. Work focused on revitalizing the balcony, garage roof, and decking to better integrate with the home’s structure and support the residents’ lifestyle.
J&RS approached the deck and roof repair with precision, beginning with full demolition and a temporary support wall. New joists, sheathing, and high-density insulation improved durability and energy efficiency, while a 60-mil EPDM rubber membrane provided superior waterproofing. Ipe wood tiles on a Bison pedestal system were installed for a low-maintenance, resilient deck, and the existing iron railing was reinstalled with new scuppers and steel flashing to improve drainage. The result is a safe, stylish, and long-lasting outdoor space.
This Duluth home, affectionately called an “Urban Cabin,” was selected for its charm and the promise of capturing the warmth of early married life. To better accommodate gatherings, the layout was reimagined to create an open, welcoming space that balances functionality with a cozy, inviting feel.
To bring this vision to life, the layout was reimagined by relocating the kitchen to the heart of the home, creating a welcoming space for gathering and conversation. An underused back room became a bright sunroom—ideal for relaxing or working—turning the cabin into a warm, versatile hub for everyday living and entertaining.
